Review: The Infatuations

Javier Marias has a stream of consciousness style that propels the plot along meandering diversions, without losing sight of where the story is going. You may think you’ve ended up somewhere unexpected, but before long, you’ll loop back to the main thread and realize you’ve been following it all along, but now it is three or four threads beautifully and inextricably interwoven. This particular story is about a murder, an affair. It is a thriller, but it is much more.
